TEHRAN (IQNA) – When we study the statements from the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Imam Hussein (AS), we see there is a considerable amount of recommendations on moral issues in their remarks.

This shows that religion is not just about fundamental issues like monotheism but morality also has a significant place in religion.

Basically, religion is manifested in belief by faith and in action by morality.

There is a Hadith from Imam Ali (AS) that when the first verse of Surah An-Nasr was revealed, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) did not leave his house for several days and then on Thursday, he ordered Balal to recite Adhan and call everyone to go to the mosque because the Prophet (PBUH) wanted to make statements.

The Prophet (PBUH) started by saying that he was very keen on going to God but was sad to have to leave the people. Then he said, “There are my last words to you in this world.”

The Prophet’s (PBUH) last words and recommendations were about the religion, the need for being trustworthy and the need for respecting the rights of others, including family members.

He said if someone does injustice to those inferior to him, the Prophet (PBUH) will be his enemy on the Day of Judgment. “Don’t do injustice to women and if you do, whatever good deed you have will be destroyed on the Resurrection Day. Be mindful of (respecting the rights of the family members). Teach them manners and politeness.”

These words are very important especially given the fact that they are the last words of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to people.

He then called on the people to love his Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS), the Quran and the scholars of the Ummah. He also offered advice on the importance of saying prayers and paying Zakat.

The Prophet (PBUH) also warned against oppression and injustice and committing sins, stressing the importance of Taqwa (God-fearing).

He then went home and stayed there until the time of his demise.

So the main point in the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) last remarks were about moral issues.

We see the same words and recommendations in the statements of Imam Hussein (AS).

In Karbala and during the battle, Imam (AS) would ask about the conditions of his companions and every time he was informed of their martyrdom. Until Imam Sajjad (AS) told Imam Hussein (AS) that there were no men left in the army except for the two.

Under such circumstances, Imam Hussein (AS) offered his final recommendation, which was about being kind to others, including family members.

Thus, we see there is a considerable amount of recommendations on moral issues in the remarks of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and Imam Hussein (AS).

This is an indication that religion is not just about fundamental issues like monotheism but morality also has a significant place in religion.
